Every year, afterschool professionals from across Missouri gather for an event that is more than just a conference—it’s an opportunity to grow, connect, and find a sense of belonging. The Missouri AfterSchool Network (MASN) invites program directors, coordinators, and direct service staff to the annual Missouri School Age Conference (MOSAC). The only afterschool specific, statewide conference offered in Missouri designed to provide high-quality education, valuable resources, and meaningful connections.
At MOSAC, attendees have the chance to expand their knowledge on youth development best practices, gain fresh programming ideas, and enhance their skills in working with youth, staff, and families.But beyond learning, MOSAC is about connection.

Where We Belong, the MOSAC 2025 conference theme, captures the heart of what afterschool programs represent—a place where students, staff, and families feel welcomed and supported.Brad Lademann, MASN associate director of quality and MOSAC lead explains, “The theme Where We Belong the power of afterschool programs to create welcoming spaces for everyone, especially in a time of so much division in our culture. During our conference, we want to create a sense of connection while we learn together. If we break it down, ‘Where’ is afterschool spaces, ‘We’ means all of us…students, staff, families, communities, and ‘Belong’ is a place where we are known and accepted, and we thrive. We hope MOSAC is a place where afterschool professionals know they belong. We hope they take something away from the conference to give that sense of belonging to their students. We know afterschool is a place Where We Belong.”.
That sense of belonging is what makes MOSAC a special experience for so many attendees. Rebecca Longenecker, assistant program coordinator with the Nixa XLT Afterschool Program, shares her perspective: “The community you experience at MOSAC is unmatched. The Missouri Afterschool Community is so strong. Sometimes in the afterschool field, you can feel like you are the only one experiencing what is going on in your program, but when you talk to others at MOSAC, you find so many people who know what you are talking about. They have been through or are going through what you are experiencing. It is so magical to be a part of such a large community and feel like you belong.”
