Happy back to school season! As always, the Missouri AfterSchool Network is here to support all afterschool staff this school year. There are several ways you can get involved and take advantage of all the resources MASN has to offer.

Become part of a Peer Learning Community!

Choose a PLC to join and further hone your skills in a specific area of afterschool. Become an Afterschool Ambassador to build relationships with elected officials throughout the state. MASN will provide training, networking opportunities, and mentorship. Join the Career Awareness and Post-Secondary Access (CAPSA) and Youth Entrepreneurship PLCs to promote career readiness and planning in high school students. The STEM PLC aims to prepare afterschool educators with the tools they need to effectively teach STEM lessons, and registration is still open! Learn more about these and other PLCs here.

Join an afterschool committee:

The entire afterschool community is invited to join any of the four standard committees which meet four times throughout the year. Committees include STEM, Quality, Public Policy and Awareness, and Professional Development.

Participate in these upcoming events:

Lights On Afterschool

The 24th annual Lights On Afterschool celebration will take place on October 26. Lights On highlights how afterschool programs promote student growth and development. Celebrate afterschool by planning a Lights On event! Search for ideas by theme, type, or difficulty in the Afterschool Alliance’s database. And remember to register your event with the Afterschool Alliance, invite federal, state, and local policymakers, and alert local media.

MOSAC

The Missouri School-Age Conference (MOSAC) is the largest conference in Missouri designed specifically for afterschool professionals. This year’s conference will take place November 17-19 at the Lodge of Four Seasons. Register now to connect with others working in the afterschool space, learn more about youth development, increase your skills for working with staff and youth, and discover resources for programming ideas.

Lastly, make sure you’re receiving our biweekly Pipeline newsletter to stay up to date on events and resources. Be sure to follow us on social media for activity ideas, announcements, and more!
