Welcome Back to Afterschool!

As August ushers in the new school year, the profound impact of afterschool programs on local communities once again takes center stage. While this season can bring its share of challenges, it’s also a time of immense potential and growth. The Missouri AfterSchool Network (MASN) recognizes the lasting impression your curriculum and diverse opportunities make on youth. In fact, an impressive 91% of Missouri parents express satisfaction with their child’s afterschool program.

We encourage program staff to seize this moment and get involved with MASN for the upcoming school year. Consider Terri Foulkesjoining one of our committees, including our newly formed Public Awareness committee. Or, participate in a Peer Learning Community (PLC) to enhance your offerings in STEM, Service Learning, or Youth Workforce Initiatives (CAPSA and Entrepreneurship).  Mark your calendars for our exciting Virtual Professional Development opportunities, and don’t miss the chance to register your program for the Middle School/High School Leadership Summit at Drury University on September 24.

We understand that the back-to-afterschool period can be demanding, especially when filling staff positions. To support you, we invite you to utilize the MASN Job Board for posting openings. Additionally, our Director Networking Calls provide an invaluable platform to connect with peers and gather resources on crucial topics like staff recruitment.

In our ongoing effort to enhance program resources, we’ve updated the MASN website with a comprehensive Calendar page. This tool will prove especially useful leading up to the MOSAC event in November where you can pick up a copy of the Monthly Planner and/or Afterschool Calendar. If you haven’t registered yet, now is the perfect time to do so.

Stay informed with our monthly STEM newsletter and our bi-monthly Pipeline newsletter, and tune in to the rebranded “Pipeline LIVE! Monthly Director Update” for timely announcements and reminders.

Let’s embrace this new school year with enthusiasm and dedication, continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of Missouri’s.
