Kimberly Albrecht helps lead the Clayton Kid Zone Afterschool Program, in addition to volunteering her time with MASN committies such as MOSAC Planning & STEM.
Hear from Kimberly about her passion for STEM:
My journey to embracing STEAM in afterschool started my third year of being in the afterschool profession. My program coordinator brought to me a new careers in STEAM curriculum that he was interested in running through the program and needed a staff member to facilitate.
I was excited for the opportunity as I always had a passion for learning through experimenting, exploring, and hands on instruction, so I jumped on the opportunity! Eight years later, my passion is keeping STEAM learning in the Clayton Kid Zone program, and providing a variety of opportunities for our students and staff to experience the amazing world of STEAM education. Our program keeps STEAMing forward with project-based learning, career and inventive themed makerspaces, bringing in a variety of experiences, and a program initiative STEAM Day.
As the STEM Committee chair I am excited to bring my experience and passion for STEM to further the Missouri Afterschool Stem learning community, but also to continue to grow in my own STEAM journey.
