Providing care for hundreds of students outside of school hours has become central to Dr. Janelle Stanek’s mission and involvement with afterschool programming.
As a recipient of the Building Business/Community Partnership for Afterschool Success Grants (aka Chamber Grant) in 2021 and the MASN Youth Entrepreneurship Micro Grant in 2022 and 2023, Stanek has worked to grow her Youth Entrepreneurship program. “Janelle is an example of a director seizing the opportunities provided by MASN; from additional funding, to curriculum and additional support through PLC’s”, said Mark Cowsert, MASN associate director of partnerships.
Stanek brought her superintendent’s vision to life when she began their first hydroponic garden. Starting a partnership with the Warrenton community to grow and sell crops has been a central part of their continuing micro-grants. Over the years, they have expanded the partnership with the Warrenton Chamber of Commerce.
Jannelle’s example of leadership in the youth entrepreneurship afterschool space is something your program can succeed in as well. The 2024 Chamber Grant & MASN’s Youth Entrepreneurship Micro-Grants are now open for application! The request for proposals closes April 30.
