Have you asked a middle schooler what they want to be when they grow up? You will probably get the typical responses of athlete, influencer, or gamer. There is nothing wrong with these answers but, as parents and educators who care about our youth and we know there is so much more! With that in mind, MASN, 220 Leadership and VentureLab will host their 2nd annual Middle School Student Leadership Summit from 9:00am to 3:00pm on September 19, 2023, at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla.
During the summit, participating youth will hear from guest speakers, tour campus, and workshop with VentureLab. The goal of the summit is to start the process of fostering student creativity and innovative thinking around career opportunities as they practice their networking and professional communication.
Program leaders will learn about two dynamic courses focused on preparing middle school students for their future.
- VentureLab’s Career Exploration and Innovation approach allows youth to grow their entrepreneurial mindsets and skills as they apply their passions and strengths to identify opportunities to discover, research, and innovate a career. Entrepreneurship is more than starting a business, it is a way of thinking and acting that helps students become career ready! Entrepreneurial skills are employability skills and the earlier we give youth a variety of experiences to practice and grow them, the greater chance of success they will have in their current and future situations.
- 220 Leadership’s Middle School Transition course will motivate and captivate students as they prepare for high school. Your rising middle schoolers will not just be prepared for high school, but will be prepared to lead, thrive, and use high school as a launching pad for their Second to None Life!
Participating Programs will gain access to curriculum offered by 220 Leadership and VentureLab, monthly Peer Learning Community (PLC) meetings, check-ins with VentureLab and 220 Leadership and more. All at NO COST to you! Space is limited to 75 students so register as soon as possible through this link.
