Show Me Afterschool Day
Show Me Afterschool Day is February 24 and is a time to engage Missouri lawmakers to educate and promote the value of afterschool programs in Missouri. This is your chance to meet with legislators via phone or videoconference link to share your story about the importance of afterschool. We will help you set up the meetings and will accompany you in some cases. We will provide materials for your meetings and host a morning virtual rally and an afternoon debrief to talk about what happened in your meetings with legislators.
Register here to participate in Show Me Afterschool Day:
Normally, we would plan to see you at the capitol but for your safety and the safety of our legislators this year, we will be virtual. We will convene virtually for a short rally in the morning and again in the afternoon to share out what happened in our legislative visits, for those who can join. Your meetings with your legislators will occur at different times, depending on the legislator’s schedule. They will be in session from 10-1 and usually schedule meetings just before or after the session. We will work with you to set up the meetings and if you prefer, we will schedule them for you.

You will also receive a link for the advocacy webinar after you sign up for Show Me Afterschool Day.
Involving youth and parents
We encourage you to involve youth and parents, if possible. It will encourage legislators to show up for the meeting if they know a youth from your program will participate and it will give them a deeper understanding of your program. You can learn more about how to include youth by watching this webinar:
The webinar showcases several potential curricula you can access by filling out this survey:
