The Afterschool Regional Educators (AREs) are the statewide trainers for MOARC. AREs are certified Weikart Youth Work Methods Trainers, and also offer a variety of unique trainings in topics such as family engagement, informal learning, and behavior management. Trainings are available upon request. Fees associated with trainings are dependent upon the topic, grant status, and availability.
Weikart Youth Work Methods
The workshops in the Youth Work Methods series are aligned with the Program Quality Assessment Tool (both the Walk-Thru and STEM versions). After gathering data from a Program Quality Assessment and creating a plan for improvement through participation in an Advanced Planning With Data training, program administrators can choose to offer a Youth Work Methods training to program staff that are aligned to the Improvement Plan. Each grantee receives one YWM training each year. These should be scheduled with your ARE. These interactive and hands-on courses provide participants with practical skills that are geared to improve the quality of interactions with youth. The Missouri AfterSchool Network will offer topic-focused, online trainings year round! These trainings are free and easily accessible, led by the Afterschool Regional Educators (AREs). Topics offered vary each year and are created in response to 21st CCLC and SAC grantee needs assessment. Topic examples include family engagement, informal and active learning, and behavior management, and more!
